HIV Impacts MDGs on Maternal and Child Health

World leaders are meeting in New-York this month to review global progress to reaching the Millennium Development Goals (MDG) by the target date of 2015. Despite some progress, it doesn’t look good. Achieving each of the health MDGs is closely dependent on the others. Unfortunately, HIV infection continues to remain a major barrier to the achievement of MDGs 4 and 5 on maternal health and child mortality in many low-income countries. 


World AIDS Campaign in Moldova Announces Request for Expressions of Interest

The World AIDS Campaign (WAC) in collaboration with the Global Network of PLHIV (GNP+) has initiated a project in Moldova that focuses on evidence-based advocacy and campaigns.  Following a series of meetings with key stakeholders in the HIV response in Moldova, the project is now entering a new and exciting stage that requires partnership with a local organization that can take the lead in driving the campaign forward.

Ten years after committing itself to achieve the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) at the Millennium Summit in New York, in September 2000, the Republic of Moldova issues its Second Millennium Development Goals Report. The report prepared by the Government, with the support of the United Nations in Moldova, identifies the progress made by Moldova in meeting those eight goals. It also outlines the steps that will be taken in the next five years which will be decisive for the fate of those commitments.


UNAIDS Moldova Announces the Recruitment of Communication/Social Mobilization Assistant

United Nations Joint Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) Moldova announces the recruitment of Communication/Social Mobilization Assistant to provide advice, assistance, and support to UNAIDS office in Moldova and to UN Joint Team members on HIV/AIDS to promote effective communication about the UNAIDS Moldova HIV/AIDS programmes and coordination of activities among both national and external partners. Maintenance and update of the UNAIDS Moldova website www.aids.md will be a major responsibility.

Recruitment of National Sociological Company for the Provision of Qualitative Research in the Framework of Evaluation of Prevention Interventions under the National AIDS Programme 2006 – 2010

The United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS in the Republic of Moldova (UNAIDS) launches a tender for the recruitment of a National Sociological Company. The company will develop interview guides and questionnaires for semi-structured interviews and will conduct a qualitative research in the framework of evaluation of prevention interventions under the National Programme on Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS and STIs 2006 – 2010.
