The National AIDS Programme has underwent through a Mid-Term Review late 2008, and a Response Analysis consisting of a desk review of analytical documents, survey reports, programme and project progress reports has been carried out in early 2010. Nevertheless, a comprehensive evaluation of prevention with the focus on those most at risk of HIV, determining the effectiveness of the interventions under implementation has never been carried out.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has launched a web-based consultation to seek input on the development of the WHO Global Health Sector Strategy for HIV/AIDS, 2011-2015. The Sixty-third Session of the World Health Assembly adopted a resolution requesting that the World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General develop a WHO HIV/AIDS Strategy for 2011-2015, through a broad consultative process.
