First Regional Social Center was opened in Balti

Social Regional Center “Life with hope” is a public institution for social assistance, created to improve the life quality and adherence to ARV treatment of people living with HIV/AIDS, also, to offer better opportunities for social inclusion of these persons and their family’s members.

Center “Life with hope” from Balti will provide services for population from the north part of the country, being the first one, from those four, that should be inaugurated during this year. Those three centres will be opened in Chisinau (for the center region), Comrat (south region), and Tiraspol (transnistrian region). Geographical regional position of these centers allows the access for beneficiaries from different localities to support services and social protection.

According to operating status, the Center will provide a wide range of social services, psychosocial and medical references, including: psychosocial support and adherence to ARV treatment, counselling, referral advice for getting a profession or job training trainings, peer activities.

For realisation of activities, Regional Social Centres buildings were repaired, furnished and equipped with appliances, informational and logistical equipment; was arranged a training room and a room for children(Toy Library). Centres have also one transport unit for more efficient organization of labour.

Inauguration of the Centre "Living with Hope" takes place near the International AIDS Candlelight Memorial Day (third Sunday of May), when at the national and local level will be organized various activities to raise awareness, commemorate, inform, promote tolerant and non-discriminatory attitudes towards PLH.

Regional Social Centres are open through a partnership between the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, local public authorities and the Center for Health Policy and Analysis (PAS), the project "Reduction of HIV in Moldova", financed by Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis.
