Public Medical-Sanitary Institution Republican Dermatovenerologic Dispensary (RDVD)

Republican Dermatovenerologic Dispensary (RDVD) is one of the main institutions involved in the response to HIV/AIDS in the Republic of Moldova. Established in September 1944, RDVD is accredited by the National Council for Evaluation and Accreditation in the field of Health and offers a wide range of services in diagnosis and treatment. RDVD has a section for treatment of patients with AIDS, providing specific treatment of opportunistic infections as well.


Services provided

  1. Consultative and hospital assistance for cutaneous diseases (skin diseases), cosmetology, sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS.
  2. Laboratory diagnostic to track down sexually transmitted infections: syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, mycoplasmosis, ureoplasmosis, candidosis, including urogenital candidosis, herpetic infection; microbial flora with determination of sensibility/esthesis for antibiotics, of casual agents in scabies and dermatophytes.
  3. Determining the immune status (CD4-CD8) and viral loan in HIV/AIDS.
  4. Antiretroviral (ARV) treatment for people infected with HIV and patients with AIDS. Prophylactic treatment for HIV+ pregnant women. Prophylactic treatment for children born from HIV+ mothers. Free provision of antiretroviral drugs for patients while their treatment and formulas for feeding new-borns from HIV+ mothers.
  5. Ultrasound and radiological diagnostic.
  6. Radiotherapy in cutaneous processes, spurs and other maladies.
  7. Physiotherapeutic treatment, including curative baths, underwater massage.
  8. Gynecologic services, colposcopy.
  9. Counseling and psychological assistance to people with HIV/AIDS.
  10. Monitoring, evaluation and integration in dermatovenerology and infection HIV/AIDS.
  11. Consultative services within the design of normative acts regarding dermatovenereology and medical assistance offered to people with HIV/AIDS, in issues regarding the organization of specialized medical assistance in this compartment.
  12. Training at workplace for specialists with clinical behavior towards patients with dermic/cutaneous affections, sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS, regarding the improvement of laboratory diagnostic methodology in the viewed pathology.
  13. Consulting and logistics support in the social events organization in the field of sexually transmitted infections and HIV/AIDS prophylaxis, reading lectures focused on related issues.

Republican Dermatovenerologic Dispensary Sections

Consultative Section

Within the section work dermatovenerologists, infection disease doctors, lab workers, a physician, a gynecologist, a radiologist, a specialized psychologist.

To get tested for sexually transmitted infections, or take any other counseling at the above mentioned specialists, you are welcome to address the policlinic directly. The medical examination and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STI) can be offered confidentially as well, upon request.

Section for Treatment of Patients with AIDS

Under the dispensary a unique section has been created for providing antiretroviral treatment (ARV), including a prophylactic treatment of pregnant women living with HIV, newborns from such mothers and post-accidental prophylactic treatment (post-exposure prophylaxis).

The section has 35 beds, including 5 beds for pregnant women and children. The section has optimal conditions for treatment of patients; and was fully renovated and provided with necessary medical equipment and furniture.

Only highly professional doctors and medical assistants work in the section. Here the patients may seek advice, and according to the clinical indices can be hospitalized on their personal request, or following the appointment card from the family doctor or infectionist. The medical examination and treatment of sexually transmitted infections (STI) can be offered confidentially as well, upon request.

The dispensary issues formulas for artificial alimentation of newborns up to 1 year old, born from HIV positive mothers, in order to prevent vertical transmission of the virus through feeding.
