UNAIDS is launching the zero discrimination campaign on 1 December  – World AIDS Day 2013 to generate public support for ending discrimination.

UNAIDS is working with Nobel Peace Prize winner and UNAIDS Global Advocate for Zero Discrimination Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, who together with UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibé will make an important announcement at the campaign’s launch in Melbourne, Australia.

Campaign elements

UNAIDS is setting up the web page: www.unaids.org/en/resources/campaigns/zerodiscriminationwhich will make the various elements of the zero discrimination campaign easily accessible.

The campaign has adopted the butterfly as the transformative symbol for zero discrimination and UNAIDS has designed posters, a greeting card, stickers and a brochure featuring the butterfly. These materials can be downloaded from the web page.

An inspiring PSA with Daw Suu featuring animated butterflies encourages individuals to Open up, Reach out and transform their lives and end discrimination. There are 15 second and 30 second versions of the PSA posted on You Tube for easy sharing.

The web page also includes facts, suggested tweets and interviews with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and other important advocates on different aspects of discrimination.

Everyone has a right to live a full and productive life with dignity. No-one should experience discrimination because of who they are.

Discrimination can affect people in many ways in their lives. With this cross-cutting issue, only by joining together can we reach zero discrimination.

When
