HIV/AIDS: Innovative Management and Care

29 May – 12 June, 2013 International Training Seminar for HIV/AIDS Professionals

Health professionals worldwide, dedicated to the prevention, control and treatment of HIV/AIDS recognise the epidemic’s ravaging effect on the social fabric of community life. This includes the strain imposed upon existing health facilities, the socioeconomic upheaval created among the income-generating adult population and most tragically, a generation of children orphaned by the disease.

A community-development approach to HIV/AIDS prevention, control and treatment stimulates local communities to identify their needs and priorities, and to mobilise their human and financial resources. This emphasises the need for expert training of community-health and social workers entrusted with the prevention, control and treatment of HIV/AIDS.

This seminar aims to impart advanced leadership techniques to HIV/AIDS professionals, with a focus on decision-making and problem-solving skills. The war on HIV/AIDS is approached from the viewpoint of general management within the specialised context of primary health-care in the community.
