Standard HIV Application within the New Funding Model of the Global Fund

The Republic of Moldova is applying for the standard HIV grant within the New Funding Model of the Global Fund to Fight TB, AIDS and Malaria (GFATM) following the decision of the National Coordination Council for HIV/AIDS/STI Prophylaxis and Control and TB Control Programmes. The application will be based on HIV/AIDS  component, focused on prevention and control activities among vulnerable groups (IDU, CSW, MSM). The deadline for the application is 15 May 2014.


Raportarea GARPR 2014

Pe 7 februarie, în Moldova a fost lansat procesul de organizare a raportării globaleprivind progresul răspunsului HIV GARPR 2014. Raportarea se axează pe cele 10 ținte globale stabilite prin Declarația politică a Asambleii Generale a ONU pentru HIV/SIDA din 2011, dintre care cinci (5) țin de Obiectivele de Dezvoltare ale Mileniului (ODM). Pentru raportare este necesară utilizarea diverselor instrumente de măsurare și surse de date precum: studii populaționale, statistică de rutină, studii specifice în domeniu (ex. IBBS), supravegherea de santinelă, sisteme informaționale de sănătate, estimări naționale în baza softului SPECTRUM, etc.

Proposal to Global Fund to Fight AIDS, TB and Malaria by Republic of Moldova, Round X

The Republic of Moldova is applying for the X Funding Round of the Global Fund to Fight TB, AIDS and Malaria (GFATM)      following the decision of the National Coordination Council for HIV/AIDS/STI Prophylaxis and Control and TB Control Programmes. The application is going to be based on HIV/AIDS  component, focused on prevention and control activities among vulnerable groups (IDU, CSW, MSM).


Development of Course Support on Protection of Rights of People Living with HIV

The idea is to revise the curricular of Law schools to reflect HIV and human rights protection of people living with HIV/AIDS and of vulnerable groups. The activity is carried out within the Project “Reduction of HIV-related Burden in the Republic of Moldova”, financially supported by the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Round VIII.

National Programme on Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS and STI 2011-2015

The new cycle of National Programme for Prevention and Control of HIV/AIDS/STI for 2011–2015 was initiated by the Ministry of Health in partnership with all relevant stakeholders. National AIDS Programme 2011–2015 will be aligned to national strategic frameworks and international commitments Moldova has embraced and based on lessons learnt through implementation of previous cycles of NAP and medium term review of NAP 2006–2010 recommendations.

Estimations of Sizes of Vulnerable Populations

Reasons for developing reliable estimates of the size of populations at high risk for HIV can be grouped into two major areas: policy and programming. The area of policy encompasses advocacy, response planning and resource allocation, plus estimations of numbers infected with HIV and projections of the burden of disease. The area of programming encompasses intervention planning, measurement of coverage, and monitoring and evaluation of interventions. In this context, in 2009 there have been initiated the appliance of different methodologies for estimating sizes of MARPs, which continues in 2010 in estimating through applying network scale-up, multiplier and capture-recapture methods. Below is the detailed consultation process on estimations of sizes of vulnerable populations.
