June 25, 2008
The project proposal of National Coordination Council on TB/AIDS from Republic of Moldova was submitted to Global Fund as of July 25, 2008 and was focused on two components: TB and HIV/AIDS. The proposal includes the summary project, the detailed budget and workplan, description of planned activities, and attachments related to strategic and legislative framework of the country as well as evaluation reports.

The National Coordinating Council on TB/AIDS approved the application to Global Fund to fight AIDS, TB and Malaria, Round VIII with two components: TB and HIV/AIDS. During themeeting as of June 19, 2008 the main recipients: UCIMP and "PAS" Center were approved as well as responsibilities of TB/AIDS NCC Secretariat for proposal presentation.

The Proposal Form on behalf of the National Coordination Council for National HIV/AIDS/STI Prophylaxis and Control and TB Control Programmes for presentation to GFATM, Round VIII was filled in. The document focuses on needs description to apply to GF, major activity areas, the process to select principal recipients and other directions.
June 17, 2008
On June 17, c.y., an extensive meeting is organized with all Technical Working Groups in area of HIV/AIDS. During the meeting the proposal in area of HIV/AIDS to Global Fund, Round VIII will be presented and discussions will be focused on selection of recipients and organization of NCC TB/AIDS reunion. The meeting will take place within National Centre for Health Management, conference room, 2nd floor.

The proposal for Tuberculosis area was elaborated and includes the activities and the budget. The overall goal of the Project is to reduce the burden of tuberculosis in the Republic of Moldova by scaling up the management of drug-resistant tuberculosis. This proposal targets specifically drug-resistant TB, therefore a sole main objective has been identified: to ensure universal access to diagnosis and treatment of drug-resistant tuberculosis.

The draft proposal for HIV/AIDS area was elaborated and includes the activities and the budget. The main element of the proposal focuses on health system consolidation aiming at treatment, care and support service delivery for persons living and/or affected by HIV. Proposals and suggestions on the draft proposal can be presented by June 9, 2008.
May 26, 2008
On May 26, 2008 a meeting within Ministry of Social Protection, Family and Child was organized aiming at elaboration of Proposal to GFATM, Round VIII. Participants of the meeting emphasized the component of social protection of persons infected and affected by HIV, existent mechanisms and opportunities for improvement in the future.
May 20-21, 2008
During May 20-21, 2008 a workshop was organized with League of People living with HIV in Moldova. The workshop had the aim to finalize the activities and elaboration of budgets for Proposal to GFATM, Round VIII. Topics related to psychosocial support for adults, children vulnerable to HIV/AIDS, human rights and HIV as well as others have been discussed during workshop.
March 28–29, 2008
On March 28–29, 2008 a workshop on proposal elaboration to GFATM, Round VIII in area of HIV/AIDS/STI was organized. During the workshop was decided that the Proposal to GFATM, Round VIII should be focused on health system consolidation and the possibility of having two main recipients for sources of GFATM, Round VIII: Ministry of Health and NGOs should be explored.

On March 14, 2008 the National Coordination Council TB/AIDS discussed the necessity to apply to Round VIII, Global Fund. During the reunion the mechanism, terms of elaboration and approval of grant proposal of Republic of Moldova to Global Fund were approved.
March 1, 2008
On March 1, 2008, the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria announced call for proposals for Round VIII, emphasizing the importance of scaling up service delivery to key affected populations and strengthening health systems. The Global Fund also recommended that both government and nongovernmental organizations be included as recipients of grants.
Previous Proposals to GFATM Filed by Republic of Moldova
